Birthday Thriftshare.....

This Sunday was my birthday!
Woot Woot!
Finally got that IPOD to use those
awesome photo apps!
Other than birthday awesomeness in general
and a very close call with a tornado...
I did have time to find a few things
at a church sale
and a stop at The Goodwill
fashion was the theme for the weekend...
Found this great traditional Mexican style dress
$4.00
Lovely hand embroidery
Dilemma however...
Belt or no?
The thing with some of these dresses is they
look like sacks sometimes.
I think it would even look great with jeans...
see the two little birds?
love the little mushrooms...
The bunch of violets is faded and a bit chippy but that's why I like it...
$3.00
The large cameo is a piece of 1928 mother and child design
$2.00
The locket is real sterling/marcasite with mother of pearl
$3.95

Few yards of this cute fabric...
I'm thinking it is from the 70's
for .99  cents!
Would probably make a nice light blanket material...
any ideas?
So what did you find?
Head on over to ATG
to see what other great finds were out there...
Happy Monday!

Fabulous Ladies...

Inspired by fellow Vinatge bloggers
who are totally fashion oriented
I thought I would start featuring some of my favorite
fashion and movie idols
especially those who would be considered Vintage...
Growing up (Gasp)
before Cable T.V.
I remember watching all sorts of black and white movies, musicals,
Sunday was synonymous with Shirley Temple
Errol Flynn in Pirate movies
Maureen O'Hara in anything!
I'm starting out with Vivian Leigh
I have to admit that I used to
imitate some of her lines from GWTW as a teenager
call me eccentric whatever!
I would stand in the mirror and recite in the style of her banter
"Pea green with envy"
say "Ashleigh"
I just loved her style...

Unless you live under a rock
Everyone knows her as Scarlett O'Hara
Blanche Dubois from A Streetcar named Desire
But have you ever seen any of her other
wonderful movies?
Not to mention some of the stunning Hollywood stills of her
what an amazingly beautiful woman
that gaze of hers is what always gets me...

Love these pants
Haven't I seen this look in Anthropologie?
Shouldn't we wear more hats?
Smoldering (Stylish)
you can just wonder what is she thinking...
Couldn't a contemporary starlet wear this today?
I don't know if they could top her though.
If you'd like to see a film lesser known by later generations of hers
This movie is one of my favorites

Robert Taylor is the leading man.
Any favorites of yours you'd like to share?
I'll be doing this weekly.
Happy Tuesday!
