Thrifty goodness....

I found this  little gem
last week
at my favorite
Secret Spot..
It is a place I refuse to divulge
I want to keep the little Thrift Treasure Island all to myself!

 It was marked $4
and
 it was half off day
and
for some reason I got another discount
on top of that!
So I paid under $2 for it
 I also came home with
a few clothing items
a handkerchief
and a few sewing notions!
and my total was $2.98
for everything!
It is a locket as well...so sweet!
It is sized for a very small wrist or a child.
Reminds me of the little carnival prizes from the 40's and 50's.
I have a similar one that belonged to my grandmother.
It's good to find quality when you are out looking for treasure
isn't it!

Artistic Artifacts.....

Thought I would share
some of the fun things I found
back at
last month...
This great set of vintage playing cards
a full deck for only $2
I couldn't resist these little paper clown baskets$3
and
 the German Christmas scrap
$4
This bright little board game was also $2
I paid a bit more for these two
but I have never seen any like them before..
I paid $8 but they are so much fun and we love
St.Patrick's Day here!
 These are Kiddie Keno
boards...
never heard of it,
but again the graphics and colors are so great
I know I can make something fun with them.
$2 seemed to be the price for the evening.
I have a few more pieces that I will share tomorrow...
Hope you enjoyed the peek.
I really enjoy the vendor night at Art and SOul because you just
never know what you are going to find!

Thriftshare!

Loving
that the thrift stores are
extra full
of Christmas items right now!

 found these great Glitterfied ornaments
at Goodwill
the violins were 2 for .75 cents
and I think I got 6
The church was .75 cents as well
The pink tinsel garland is sort of shiny with a matte finish on it
it is so lovely and never used!
$1.25
This kitschy tree star is for
Little Keepers tinsel tree...
$1.25 was still in the box!
The mice I know are from the 70's/80's
we had lots of these flocked type ornaments when I was a kid.
.55 cents for the unopened package of four.

Found a bag FULL of these bridal shower decorations
for .13 cents!
That's right!
Our Boys and Girls club was giving 1/2 off items
with green tags and this bag was .25 cents originally!

This was a cottage cheese container!
It was empty and clean.
I'm guessing whoever purchased it years ago loved the
little Easter chickies and just had to keep it!
I was so surprised because I never find stuff like this!
Same price of .13 cents!

Have you had any luck with Christmas items
lately?

Thriftshare.....

Thriftshare Monday....

But before we get to the goodies
Lets celebrate Coach Shaka Smart being the kind of person
we want every mentor and teacher to be.
He turned down 2 million from NC State
to stay with VCU for 8 more years!
Yeah Coach!

Now on to the goodies...
I didn't go out much this weekend
because it was just so darn beautiful
We played hard
visited
worked in the yard
and napped...
But when I did manage to make 2 stops
I found some pretty good stuff!

Found these cute Salt and Pepper shakers
for $2.98
I know they are part of a popular pattern but the name escapes me
If anyone can remember leave me a comment
Found a box full of these cards
5 of each design
Part of a Virginia Tobacco Labels set
$2.95
I will use them in some collage work and probably for trade
at Art and Soul
Cutie little Button Box
$2.98
I'm not sure if it should have had a lid?
I may use it to fill with craft supplies
It might even make a cute Easter basket?
$2.90 Something seemed to be the number of the day
and lastly

Liam scored
this crazy dinosaur he absolutely loves
for $.99!
It looks like it was never used.
Just happened we found everything at
two local Children's Hospital Stores.
SO,
Head on over to Apron Thrift Girl
and see what everyone else found!
Happy Monday!

Thriftshare.....

Had a very long weekend
Classes
Organizing a wreck of a house
Out of town guest
Who I couldn't have gotten a thing done without
Missy Rocks!
A sick husband.
Of course...
I still found time to thrift!
Best score of the weekend
was a Roadmaster Tricycle
I don't have a photo because
it ended up at the sitters house
before I could photograph it
Cherry Red and Chrome
I couldn't believe it!

Found this sugar bowl and Spice bottle at a moving sale
and of course I picked up the bowl because it was my favorite green
Lovely box of velvet ribbons and trims in lots of colors

I was very drawn to this colorful bird embroidered towel
The saucer was just so lovely I had to have it

The lace on this tablecloth is so delicate
and has a sweet design
Cute doily
and very intricate design on this hand towel
I think of how much time it took for someone
who was doing this for fun or necessity
must have spent and how proud they probably were when they finished
We are so used to going to the store and just buying things
There was a time when people didn't have access
to major stores and did things like this
in order to have something nicer
and probably also enjoyed spending time with their craft
I couldn't resist the plastic baby - The Kitsch in me had to have it
The frame is metal and a bit rusty
both will be great for some mixed media projects
and the pin was so darling - again - couldn't leave it

My last find was this sort of medal
It was just in a box with some
paperclips and rubber bands
"Florida Power & Light Co."

The back however says U.S.A.F.
Sea Survival School
Turkey Point
Florida
I'm assuming which is United States Air Force
I haven't been able to look into the history
of this piece yet
If any of you have any insight
I'd love for you to share it with me.
So....
What did you find this weekend?
Head on over to
Happy Monday!
