Thriftshare!

Loving
that the thrift stores are
extra full
of Christmas items right now!

 found these great Glitterfied ornaments
at Goodwill
the violins were 2 for .75 cents
and I think I got 6
The church was .75 cents as well
The pink tinsel garland is sort of shiny with a matte finish on it
it is so lovely and never used!
$1.25
This kitschy tree star is for
Little Keepers tinsel tree...
$1.25 was still in the box!
The mice I know are from the 70's/80's
we had lots of these flocked type ornaments when I was a kid.
.55 cents for the unopened package of four.

Found a bag FULL of these bridal shower decorations
for .13 cents!
That's right!
Our Boys and Girls club was giving 1/2 off items
with green tags and this bag was .25 cents originally!

This was a cottage cheese container!
It was empty and clean.
I'm guessing whoever purchased it years ago loved the
little Easter chickies and just had to keep it!
I was so surprised because I never find stuff like this!
Same price of .13 cents!

Have you had any luck with Christmas items
lately?

Thrifty and crafty....

This week for
Thriftshare I decided to just show
one item.
Mainly because I have been looking for almost a year
for the perfect piece
to place in this Niche' that I made last May....
This Virgin Mary from a vintage nativity
jumped out at me from a bottom shelf at the local CHKD....
she was only .79 cents!
I made the Niche' at one of Sally Jean Alexanders classes.
Every bit of that was put together by Moi!
The top is broken pieces of a crystal bowl...
The beautiful thing about it is that you can
place one of those battery operated tea lights in the bottom
to shine through and illuminate the object inside.
There should be a back on this but I wanted
you to be able to see through the glass.
That little .79 cent piece is what I finally needed!
How amazing is the power of Thrift?!
Happy Monday all!

Thrift Share is back!

I had taken a bit of a break from thrifting lately
in order to save some money...
Between Christmas and Birthdays
we had plenty to get rid of anyway!
Last weekend I did get the urge to stop at our local
charity shop when I had a bit of time to use up
between appointments.
Lately some of the shelves at this tore have felt bare so I hadn't
stopped in there in a while...
I was glad I did this time!

Found this stack of  8 molds for $1.58
I started using a few today to put paperclips in
and another one to put Valentines Day candy in.
I will definitely use the rest for crafting...

Lovely pastoral figure $2.98
Funny how in the stores how you tend to get one of the pair...
I have a few and they sometimes actually mix well together.
I just had to share this shelf in my kitchen
with some previous thrifted items
because the light was right
and I am loving the way it looks after I re-arranged it last weekend.
The pitcher on the left is Fire King got it a few weeks ago for $2.98
the two little green salt and pepper shakers I found last spring
the beeswax bear candle was a gift from my bestie Esta
Hen came from T.J. Maxx $2.99
the little chair went with a doll house set I have had since I was a kid
and then tin is from a Cath Kidston set I got last Christmas...
head on over to
to see what everyone else has found!
Tomorrow I will be sharing what I made for the
Valentines Day swap
hosted by Laurie at
Lots of fun blog-hopping to do!
What did you find this week?

Thriftshare Monday....

ONE last call:
before I get to Thriftshare
My winners of the giveaway
have yet to send me their info.
SuzieQ and Lisanne.
contact me by e-mail on my profile page
Thanks!
I want to get your goodies out so you can start
enjoying them!

Last 3 weeks
the amount of yardsales and estate sales has been
quite overwhelming.
Now that the weather is pretty much a steady warmth,
I guess everyone is inspired to clean out!
I have to admit I haven't been in my usual try and go to every sale mood.
After the great finds I had last week
and while trying to control my own hoard...
I decided that if I go to a sale and I am pretty happy with what I bought,
then that is where I'll stop for the weekend.
Luckily, at the first sale I went in on Saturday
I found some fun things...
Most of the rest I drove by just looked boring..
This estate sale was packed.
There were so many people it felt like
they thought stuff was being given away!
I have learned to look where no one else is looking when it feels like that...
Then  I found these...
A closet in the kitchen full of old cookbooks, bingo cards, magazines and misc. books.
This Vintage Jello book is awesome.
I already have a couple of Jello books and some of the recipes are Heee-larious!
Stuff with vegetables in it and even fish!
Uckkkk...
I need to feature some of the recipes later...
They gave me this one for free!
No argument there...
In the same closet I picked up this enormous volume
of
Cars and Trucks and things that GO!
by Richard Scarry
for my little guy.
$14.99 book in perfect condition for
$2
The illustrations are so much fun.
I remember pouring over and inspecting the details in these types
of illustrated books when I was a kid.
I think it helped me learn a lot of my self taught drawing skills...
Adorable bunnies all packed into the wagon
and
neat imagining the Sody-Pop truck...
Then I rummaged through a bunch of boxes under a table of DVD's
full of Christmas ornaments.
Lots of lame stuff and then in the bottom I found these
sweet wooden ornaments.

3 tiny angels on their shooting stars...
.75 cents for all three
Teeny Santa whose tree and present were still in perfect shape.
I seem notice the bottle brushes are usually crushed or things are missing..
He was so cute I couldn't resist
.25 cents.
I'll let Liam have these for his own tree
I walked out to the garage and looked around for a bit.
Then peeping out from a box covered in old dusty vinyl and yuck-o various bits of debris...
I saw these...

Jackpot!
Vintage dime-store Christmas stockings.
They usually came with candy and novelty items in them.
I found 2 last year at a show and paid more than what I paid for this whole lot
$2!

Probably 100 in the box.
I had to refrain
from buying all of them
I know I couldn't use them all
and I'm not ready to sell yet.
I just grabbed a big handful...
at least 25-30
and they are the really large ones.
I can't wait to use them for gifts this year
and some projects I have dreamed up....
I was pretty content and decided to stop at this for the day
I only spent $5!
It was a good thrift day if you ask me!
What did you find this weekend?
I can't wait to see all the goodies at
Head over and wish her a Happy 5 year Blogoversary
for the site!
Happy Monday!

It has adorable ribbon trim w/ roses attached to the frame
